The Opportunity

As Technical Architect, you will be the senior technical expert within the Unified Communications team, working with technical and non-technical individuals across the organisation. One of the main functions of the role is to collaborate with the technical sales team to create pre-sales documentation, proposals and tenders for high value Unified Communication, Integrated AV and Video Conferencing solutions, including systems designs & specification, installation planning and service/maintenance schedules. You will be working closely with top technical sales professionals and liaise with high level clients at blue-chip companies to develop optimum solutions to meet client requirements and budgets, making use of the latest networking and video communication technologies. This role will require you to keep up to date with the latest products and standards within Unified Coms, Video Conferencing and network infrastructure, in order to offer the most competitive solutions currently available. Once tenders have been won, you will oversee dedicated project managers on technical delivery and be available to answer any technical issues from installers, clients and any professionals relevant to the project. You will be responsible for the procurement of the required system components and the project budget, which you will monitor and manage, ensuring compliance with contract requirement. There is a strong commercial element to this role, managing vendor relationships to ensure best price and maximum profit margin, whilst working with the sales and account management team to maximise opportunities with existing clients that you work with. You will also work closely with the Service Delivery Manager and advise on how on strategy for commercial application of current and emerging Unified Communications technologies.

Salary £45k-£55k p.a. + benefits

This role requires a technically strong Video Conferencing systems integration expert, who also understand IT network infrastructure and how it applies to VC solutions. Must have a proven track record in Video Conferencing Solutions Project Management and delivering high value technology projects in the corporate & public sectors. Must have worked with corporate and/or government clients and in multi-discipline project teams. Must have a strong knowledge of field based VC engineering, maintaining and operation, ideally with a prior background working in a pres-sales, design and specification focused role, ideally in Unified Communications. You will have a current understanding of TelePresence and VC solutions. Ideally you will have up to date knowledge of immersive telepresence, desktop telepresence, audio & video systems and their related network infrastructure. An understanding of systems integration with IP networks and existing IT systems is essential. Experience with Microsoft OCS and the use of high availability multi-site networks would be an advantage. You are likely to be degree qualified in a relevant technological field, hold Microsoft Certification (ideally in Exchange Server), Polycom technical certification and be CCNA or CCNP qualified. Must be conversant with Project Management best-practice and methodologies, such as PRINCE2. As well as being technically accomplished, you will also need to be very presentable and a good communicator, able to work with a variety of individuals with varying degrees of technical knowledge, including installation engineers, control system programmers, technical sales people, IT Managers and non-technical clients (senior managers).
