The Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity for a Presales Engineer responsible for the technical analysis of all incoming tenders and the
production of working technical solutions to meet the pre and post tender demands for our client. The Presales Engineer reports to the Sales Manager.
The key responsibilities of the post are:
. Timely review of all incoming tenders and analysis of the technical requirements.
. Production of pencil systems drawings to meet the demands of the tender.
. Production of written technical equipment specifications.
. Downloading of technical specifications and handbooks to support tender bids.
. Preparation of written technical responses detailing the reasons behind equipment choices
where necessary.
. Assistance in the production of system CAD drawings for inclusion at the tendering stage
(CAD skills not necessarily required but would be beneficial).
. Ensure that the technical responses are fully compliant, produced in a timely fashion and
are the best that the company can offer.
. Work closely with suppliers on production of tender returns to ensure that the company are
getting the best value for money and that utilising the full the services that Suppliers offer.
. Prioritise the workload according to the size of the tender/project and tender deadlines.
. To keep senior management regularly informed of the status of current and pending tenders and quotes and to bring any concerns promptly to the attention of the senior management.
. Prepare materials, including system diagrams, programs of work etc for post-tender client
meetings.
. After a successful tender assist the Project Manager and his team, with post tender
clarifications, documentation and meetings as required.
. Apply similar principles to the above to any other large projects that the company are asked to
quote for.
. When necessary to provide project details and equipment specifications to the engineering
team including in-house and third party control system programmers.
. Assist with quote preparation to produce a written proposal for larger projects for potential
new customers. Show prospective customers the added value that the company can offer and
how our proposal gives them the best value for money.
Salary negotiable dependent upon experience £26k-£34k p.a. located in Herts or North London.
Yours skills, qualities and achievements
You will have extensive professional Audio Visual and/or Broadcast Television systems knowledge ideally with a track record of preparing successful bids for tenders. You will have excellent communication skills and be able to deal politely & efficiently with your colleagues, suppliers and customers both by telephone and in meetings.
A good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel, good organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure. You will be someone who pays attention to detail and has a “can-do attitude” as well as being a team player.
CAD Skills and Photoshop and/or Desktop Publishing skills would be an advantage.
