The Opportunity
As an AV Design Engineer/Consultant, you will work on major AV projects with prestigious corporate clients (in the UK, Europe and the middle east). You will liaise with senior level technical professionals to understand their businesses, their strategy, how technology will support this and how AV can be used to best serve their needs. You will also work with other specialists from various disciplines in IT and communications, architects, lighting designers, furniture makers and acoustic consultants. You will also produce AV solutions, in terms of system specification, costing and quotations; system design, then overseeing the installation and implementation of the solution. You will liaise with the client at all stages to ensure their satisfaction and be available to them to resolve any issues arising, including final hand-over of the completed solution to the client. Your Skills, Qualities and Achievements
You are likely to be degree qualified in a technical discipline, preferably relevant to Audio Visual technologies. To succeed in this role you will require an excellent technical understanding of the latest corporate AV solutions, and the ability to specify an entire system from the client brief. Knowledge of the following is expected for success in the role: Audio systems design – including conferencing audio, digital surround sound systems, public address; Video systems – large screen displays, projection, video walls & image processing; Control systems – touchscreen controls, automation and smart building technology; Video conference systems and techniques; Audio visual system infrastructure – design and planning. This role will also require a good commercial understanding, with the ability to apply AV technology to achieve business aims. You will also require excellent communication and client facing skills, and be confident when dealing with demanding corporate clients. Proven AV system design skills are essential. A background in AV consultancy work would be ideal, but experience with an AV Systems Integrator as a system designer would be useful.
